This SAA Featured Artist Exhibit this month depicts many of the worldwide locations DORIS RICE and her participants travel to, including Tuscany, Sicily, Spain, Greece, Brittany, France, Portugal, Coronado, California, Santa Fe/Taos, New Mexico, and Puerta Vallarta.  Painters each make their own choices on set-up location to capture an essence of the place. Some are interested in rapid sketches, others look for the color or the mood of the day and the nature around. Painting on location, Plein Air, is an exciting experience.  As Rice says, “something always happens!" Framed works, as well as acetate wrapped matted works, will be on display. 

January’s "theme show" wall will feature BLACK AND WHITE artwork in a range of mediums.  Black and white images often possess a timeless quality that is more difficult to achieve with color images. This is largely because color provides more visual clues as to when the image or scene was created.
