In Lauren Avery Hutton’s studio on Center Street, two paintings, framed to catch a visitor’s eye, vibrantly clash against the exposed brick wall. 

Inspired by the beach, the canvases feature bright magenta-colored garnet sand — a textural style that Hutton, an experienced and successful artist, has been experimenting with. They are not for sale, partly because she cannot yet imagine parting with them.
