YMCA National Advocacy Days

The Southern District YMCA leaders spent this week participating in YMCA National Advocacy Days. National Advocacy Days equips Y leaders to advocate on behalf of policy issues that advance the Y’s work. Y leaders had the opportunity to learn about the Y’s legislative priorities, hear from federal officials and other partners about how the Y’s work aligns with national priorities, and meet virtually with congressional members to tell the story of the Y’s impact in communities.

On Thursday, the Southern District YMCA's CEO, Director of Camping and Director of Child Care Services met with all four New Hampshire Congress Members to promote our Y's agenda which includes healthy living-community health, child care, and social responsibility {pictured below}.

Advocating for the Y is a role all staff and volunteers play regardless of job function or tenure. With an understanding of how legislative priorities impact the Y, a personal passion for your Y, and a good story to tell, you can be an advocate and help expand your Y’s position in your community and across your state. To learn more about volunteering to be a Y advocate, learn why advocacy is relevant to your role within the Y, and how to be an effective advocate year-round, click here.

We Love Pickleball!

The Exeter Area Y is looking for new Pickleball players! Pickleball is a paddleball sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball (much like a whiffle ball) over a net. For more information about how to play and get involved in the sport of Pickleball in a safe manner at the Y, click HERE.

A Beginner's Level session will be available to for up to eight players to reserve in Mindbody Monday - Friday from 10:00-11:00AM. For more information about scheduling contact membership@sdymca.org.

Mad Science Homeschool Programs

Homeschool this week was Mad Science themed! Students spent the day outside doing science experiments like firing off rockets and walking on oobleck! Interesting in learning more about our homeschool programs? Email geof@ymcacamplincoln.org

The Camp Lincoln Paddle Plunge is back! On April 10, just as the ice melts, YMCA supporters will create their best costumes and race into the water for a freezing dip in Kingston Lake to benefit the Southern District YMCA Annual Support Campaign. Why will they do it? Because they care! The Paddle Plunge raises funds which help make YMCA programs more affordable for families in need.
Help us reach our goal of sending 20 children to camp for a week in 2021. Your support gives children in our community the gift of independence, self confidence, and fun! Click here to support the plunge and to start a team of your own!
